Kelly Clarkson Is So Over Being Pitted Against Carrie Underwood

Believe it or not, women can and do support one another. Yes, that also includes Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. The American Idol winners are sometimes pitted against each other and, well, Clarkson is putting her foot down once and for all.

You may have seen photos floating around of Clarkson and Underwood at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards held on Friday. They posed on the red carpet together, and of course, it caught the eyes of many. The images are gorgeous and the two appear to be overjoyed standing next to one another.

Clarkson opened up to Entertainment Tonight about taking photos with Underwood and revealed, “Everybody always tries to pit me and Carrie against each other. So, when I saw her I was like, ‘You know what? Let’s just end this right now and get a picture together because we are never in the same place.’ And, like, it never happens.”

She also explained how silly it is for people to think they’re at odds. “And people always try to put it together like we’re enemies,” Clarkson said. “And I’m like, ‘We don’t even know each other well enough to be enemies.’ So, anyway, I went to get a picture and then everybody lost their mind.”

Even though they aren’t close friends, they still support each other. For example, in June, Underwood sent Clarkson a package filled with her activewear and accessories line, Calia. Clarkson tweeted a video of herself opening the gift celebrating Calia’s third anniversary. “Thank you @carrieunderwood,” she captioned the post. “This apparel cake idea was adorable! I’m just now receiving it because it’s been at Starstruck! Love all your gear girl! #Calia #FannyPackForTheWin”.

In the video, you’ll see how excited and thankful Clarkson is about the present. “Carrie Underwood, this is adorable,” she exclaims in the video. “I don’t know if you came up with this, but your company is turning three, congratulations!”

She didn’t stop there and later added, “I love your socks best. I know that’s funny, but your socks and your fanny pack are my jam. But I love it! This is amazing. Whoever thought of this cake idea, this is great. Good job, Carrie Underwood and team.”

See? They absolutely support each other. Sadly, they’ve had to take matters into their own hands before in hopes of stopping people from pitting them against each other. In April, The Tylt tweeted an online poll asking, “Most iconic @AmericanIdol winner: @KellyClarkson or @CarrieUnderwood?”

Both women weighed in and their responses said it all. Clarkson tweeted, “I think we’re both winning in life and pretty blessed! Singers, mamas, CEOs. #AmbitiousBlondes go ahead @carrieunderwood.” Then, Underwood replied by tweeting, “Whatever, girl, I voted for you! But seriously, I do wish more publications would just celebrate women’s success without pitting them against each other… Just my thoughts…anyway… Love ya! Hope you’re well!”

Seriously, these two are the best. They can handle any situation flawlessly. And the fact that they celebrate each other and their respective talents should be applauded.

Women shouldn’t be pitted against one another just because we’re women. It’s unfortunate Clarkson and Underwood repeatedly have to shut down feud reports, but now that they have — again — hopefully we can all move forward and appreciate these women like they do each other.
