Olivia Wilde’s New Tattoo & the Meaning Behind It

One of the best ways to stay cool during a heat wave is to stay inside, especially in a space that’s air-conditioned and has something to occupy you for a while. For Olivia Wilde, escaping the heat wave meant getting a new tattoo, at least according to an Instagram post she made on Sunday.

Wilde shared a photo of her freshly tattooed forearm with the caption, “Heatwave activities include…” as well as some celestial emojis and a dedication, “For my little o.” It’s likely a reference to her 4-year-old son, Otis Sudeikis. The tattoo is a galactic piece with fine line work by Doctor Woo, an internationally acclaimed artist who boasts 1.3 million Instagram followers and recently teamed up with Converse to launch an exclusive line of shoes, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The space scene is not Wilde’s first tattoo; she also has the words “all love, A” on her left forearm. In 2013, a Redditor asked her about the meaning of the words during a Q+A. E! News reported that Wilde said, “It’s in honor of my late uncle Alexander Cockburn. He was a dear, dear friend. The tattoo is the last phrase he wrote to me. ‘All love, A.’ It reminds me to love everyone, just as he did.”

Wilde frequently shares photos of her fiancé, Jason Sudeikis, and their two children, Otis and Daisy, on her Instagram. In April, Wilde and Sudeikis took Otis to Disneyland to celebrate his fourth birthday, and from photos shared by The Daily Mail, it looks like they had an amazing time. Otis wore a Buzz Lightyear T-shirt for the day, which may tie into the space-themed tattoo his mom got in his honor. What little kid hasn’t gone through an astronaut or space explorer phase?

We love that Wilde’s tattoos are permanent representations of important people in her life. Now that Daisy is getting older, we can’t help but wonder if Wilde will add a tattoo for her daughter, as well.
