Reese Witherspoon Is Walking in Oprah’s Footsteps With This New Venture

We always knew Reese Witherspoon was a woman with big dreams and an enviable work hustle. Now, she is proving that with the announcement of her brand-new unscripted series, Shine On with Reese, and the brand-spankin’-new VOD channel it will air on, Hello Sunshine.

According to a press release, Shine On with Reese (premiering July 17) is a series that will highlight the stories of inspiring women like Dolly Parton, Pink and director Ava DuVernay among others. Some shows will also pair guests up by theme, so expect to see exciting team-ups, like poet Cleo Wade and former Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth, Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson and Spanx founder Sara Blakely and life partners Glennon Doyle (author) and Abby Wambach (soccer player).

This new show is the first of two series that will appear on Witherspoon’s newly announced VOD channel, Hello Sunshine. The Hollywood Reporter says Hello Sunshine will run on “channel 1112 on DirecTV and 1530 on U-verse. DirecTV Now subscribers will get their first three months for $10 a month. After three months, the channel will cost $35 a month” — so make sure you’re all subscribed before Shine On premieres. Oh, and for those who are curious, the second series prepped and ready to launch on Sept. 4 is called Master the Mess with organization experts Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin. The duo will delve into the homes of families with organization tips and, most important, humor.

The question now is: When does Witherspoon sleep? She’s taking her new Southern living book Whiskey in a Teacup on a cross-country book tour to spread “the gospel of Southern living,” in Witherspoon’s words. She’s also starring in the second season of Big Little Lies  (set to premiere in 2019), and she’s starring in an Apple TV series alongside Jennifer Aniston. And we can’t forget that she’s also hard at work on Draper James, her clothing line, and she’s juggling mom duties too. Come to think of it, maybe Witherspoon needs to be featured in her own show about inspiring women!
