Carrie Underwood’s Sweet Anniversary Post Is All About Her Journey With Mike Fisher

You know what they say: Time flies when you’re having fun. Judging by Carrie Underwood’s super-sweet wedding anniversary post to hubby Mike Fisher, this couple’s last eight years have been filled with lots of fun.

On Tuesday, Underwood took to Twitter to celebrate another year of marriage with her love, saying, “Here’s to 8 years, babe! Where does the time go?! I love you more today than yesterday… which was more than the day before… and so on and so forth. Here’s to many more years together! [Heart] you!”

Along with the message, Underwood shared a few snapshots of the couple looking, well, predictably adorable. (Do they ever not look adorable together?!)

Although the precious pair is commemorating eight years of marriage, they’ve actually been a couple for nearly a decade. In October 2008, her bassist, Mark Childers, played matchmaker and set up a backstage meeting during one of Underwood’s shows.

According to E! News, Underwood texted Childers an enthusiastic response, messaging, “Hot, hot, hot!” Still, Underwood understood the realities of making it work with another celebrity — and particularly one who lived in another country at the time — wouldn’t be without its trials and tribulations.

Fast-forward to the present, and the precious pair is still going strong. “Everyone is getting divorced. They’re dropping like flies!” Underwood told Cosmopolitan in 2015. “But we are good. It helped that we were both established before we were married. Neither one of us could be like, ‘I didn’t know it would be like this!’”

And when those trials and tribulations have come along, Underwood and Fisher have faced them together.

Over the past year, the pair has famously been dealing with a scary spill Underwood took at their Nashville home in late 2017. She sustained several severe injuries during the fall, including a badly broken wrist and lacerations to her face — the latter of which required 40 to 50 stitches.

Earlier that same year, Fisher had announced his early retirement from the NHL, and Underwood stood by his side. But, always his biggest fan, she arguably cheered louder than anyone when he returned to the ice unexpectedly in 2018.

“There’s so much to love about her,” Fisher gushed to Behind the Music in 2012 of the couple’s rock-steady relationship. “She’s funny. She’s very caring. She loves me with everything she’s got — and I do the same for her.”

For better or worse, through sickness and in health… sound familiar? We’d say that eight years in, Underwood and Fisher are certainly living up to their marriage vows.
