Travis Kelce‘s ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, is spilling the tea on her former friendship with Brittany Mahomes, and it looks like things didn’t end well. The 32-year-old influencer hinted that Brittany ghosted her once and for all after Taylor Swift entered the picture.
On the Unapologetically Angel podcast, Nicole looked a little hesitant to answer truthfully about whether she’s “still friends” with the Kansas City Chiefs WAGs — particularly Patrick Mahomes’ wife, who she did not mention by name. “Yes, I was,” she responded to the question about her relationship with Brittany. “We were cool, [but] we are not as cool as we once were.” Nicole found the abrupt transition “hard” because she considered Brittany and some of the other wives and girlfriends as “family.”
It’s pretty easy to guess that Nicole is hurt by the end of her friendship with Brittany, especially since she was a bridesmaid at her February 2022 to Patrick. Nicole opened up to People in October 2023 about why she unfollowed Brittany and Patrick on Instagram. “I do think it’s important to publicly address this because I did publicly unfollow people,” she explained. “The reality is I know these people in real life. And so, in real life, I’ve communicated to these people why I’ve had to publicly make the decisions that I made.”
At the time, she believed that the “love is still there” between her and the Mahomes, but it looks like the situation has changed after her 2022 breakup with Kelce and his current romance with Swift. Still, Nicole would love it if some of the Swiftie fanbase would back off from bullying her. In April, she tweeted on X, “I’m unproblematic. Mind my business. Never respond to the constant vitriol. Solid as they come & don’t expect a pat on the back for it either. Just know everyone has a breaking point & would love for ‘yall’ (because you know exactly who you are) to leave me alone.”
Swift and Brittany have shown how tight they are over the last few weeks even though it seems that they are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Brittany defended their “differing views” when she posted her thoughts on her Instagram Story in September. “Contrary to the tone of the world today … You can disagree with someone, and still love them,” she wrote. “You can have differing views, and still be kind.” Brittany is drawing a line in the sand when it comes to her friendships — Swift in, Nicole out.
