While it may have been a tad unexpected, fans of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi surely rejoiced when the duo was announced as the leads for the upcoming film adaptation of Wuthering Heights. After all, in addition to being two of Hollywood’s biggest rising stars, fans of the classic novel are already on the edge of their seats to see Catherine and Heathcliff on the big screen.
And, shortly after the announcement hit the headlines, the two gave fans a glimpse of their chemistry by starring in the latest ad for Chanel N°5. In the short film, Robbie, who is currently expecting her first baby with husband Tom Ackerley, sends Elordi a text saying “See you at 5.”
Elordi then hops on a motorcycle to drive to her house while Robbie changes into a signature Chanel look in a red two-piece set and drives in a convertible to drive to his.
“The story of two lovers’ missed connections, where the road to get there is just as important as the rendez-vous itself,” the ad’s description reads. “Will there be a rendez-vous waiting at the end of the journey? Or is the rendez-vous itself the journey?”
So while Robbie and Elordi didn’t exactly meet in this ad, which Challengers director Luca Guadagnino directed, fans are left asking themselves “What if?” and “What now?”
The ad, in addition to a little Wuthering Heights chemistry teaser, also announced Robbie as the newest face of the fragrance.
“My first memory of Chanel No. 5 is the Nicole Kidman commercial directed by Baz Luhrmann,” the Barbie star told Vogue. “I was probably 14 and Moulin Rouge was so big. I remember the commercial so vividly. And because Nicole is Australian, it gave me that first little glimmer of like, ‘Oh, maybe these dreams are within reach. Someone else from my country did it. Maybe I can too.’”
With not one but two Aussies in this new ad, looks like they all made it!
As a reminder, Robbie and Elordi were announced as stars in Wuthering Heights in late September.
According to Deadline, the project, which will be directed by Saltburn director Emerald Fennell, is currently in pre-production. Robbie and her husband’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, are at the helm of it all. Filming is expected to start in 2025, which will be shortly after the actress gives birth. We can’t wait!
