Mandy Moore & Milo Ventimiglia’s On-Set Confession From This Is Us Shows How In Sync They Were as Co-Stars

If you’ve seen at least one episode of This Is Us, then you already know that Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia‘s chemistry as Jack and Rebecca Pearson was truly unmatched. Together, the two made up one of the TV’s most believable and heartbreaking couples.

So, of course, it’s no surprise to fans when they reveal just how committed they were to their characters during filming. In a recent confession in the This Was Us podcast, Ventimiglia and Moore opened up about a particularly “heated” scene between their characters, who played husband and wife.

“So I’ll just start by saying, of course, Mandy Moore is one of the kindest human beings, she is who you all see her to be,” Ventimiglia said of his former co-star, per Us Weekly. “Lovely, kind, beautiful, wonderful. Mandy Moore has never been cursed at in her life.”

Moore, for her part, in addition to probably blushing at the compliments, admitted that that was totally true. “Yeah, no one’s said ‘f— you’ to me,” she said.

But, with that said, when they were filming a fight scene together, things quickly escalated between them. “In the middle of a take, things were kind of going in a direction, I think I, as Jack, was feeling it. I was a little defensive,” Ventimiglia said. “I think you might have dropped an F-bomb, then at one point in this back-and-forth at the very end of this chasing around, I was just like, ‘F– you!'”

After he said it, however, Ventimiglia knew it was likely Moore’s first.

“I kind of had started to look away but Mandy had literally [put her] her finger under my chin and pulled my face back,” he remembered. “You said, ‘Look me in the f— face!'”

Admittedly, it seems the co-stars cursed each other out in the heat of the moment, while they were so into their characters and in sync with each other. Sadly, however, the moment never made it to the final cut because of NBC’s rules of profanity. If you ask us, we would love to see it!

“It got hot, it got a little heated,” Moore added. “Listen, sometimes you just have to go there.”

Since the show ended in 2022, Moore and Ventimiglia and the rest of the cast have remained close, often reminiscing over their fond memories of the show on their podcast.

Plus, they’ve both expanded their sweet families too. While Moore welcomed her third child with her husband Taylor Goldsmith in September 2024, an adorable daughter called Louise, Ventimiglia recently announced that his wife Jarah Mariano is expecting their first baby together.

“Baby on board!” Mariano wrote on Instagram in her announcement.

From onscreen parents together to offscreen ones and best friends – we love to see it!
