Ant Anstead‘s dream company, Radford Motors, has hit a major bump along the way. The TV personality and co-founder Daniel Bednarski are dealing with a series of lawsuits alleging fraud and the company’s bankruptcy, according to People.
One lawsuit filed on March 8 by business partner Pastor Pat Velasco, who claims he is owed $2 million. The second legal complaint was filed by co-owner Roger N. Behle Jr. who alleged in a July 24 filing that the duo mishandled Radford Motors finances after making a $100,000 sale. Behle Jr. believes that Anstead and Bednarski “took $54,635.52 from this deposit and used it to pay a vendor for work unrelated to the new client’s vehicle” soon after the money was received.
“Twenty-nine minutes after the first wire was sent, Bednarski took more of the new client’s funds and paid himself $20,000 via wire,” the court documents read. Radford Motors also filed a counterclaim to both lawsuits and they filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Bednarski gave a confident statement to the media outlet, reassuring the public that their “Chapter 11 Business restructure that will be implementing strategic changes to strengthen our foundation for the future.”
Anstead spoke with Page Six and noted that he was returning to the U.S. after filming his latest show to focus on the luxury vehicle company. “My deep involvement with the company remains unchanged. It is unfortunate when you are in a situation where some ownership is not leading with the best intention of the company, but Jenson [Button] and I remain steadfast and like any entrepreneurial start-up, we remain loyal to the brand and our clients,” he commented.
It’s quite a blow to Anstead, who stepped out with girlfriend Renée Zellweger for their first public event together at the unveiling of a partnership between Radford Motors and Lotus Cars in August 2021. She was spotted in her boyfriend’s Instagram snapshots along with former Real Housewives of Orange County star, Lydia McLaughlin and her husband Doug and Tarek El Moussa and Heather Rae El Moussa. Anstead and El Moussa were both married to HGTV personality Christina Haack at different times.
Anstead captioned the photos, “This is a lifetime of dreaming, a lifetime of hard work, a lifetime of learning, a lifetime of [setbacks] and a lifetime of believing.” It looks like there’s one more obstacle to face for Radford Motors as they try to get the company back in racing form.
