Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not engaged yet, but they are reportedly making plans to expand their family. Their furry family, that is. The 34-year-old pop star has always been a cat mom, but the 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end is new to the feline fun.
“It took a while but the cats love Travis now and he loves them,” a insider shared. “He’s become a very proud cat dad and he and Taylor are now saying they want to get a new kitten to raise together.” That means a “rescue kitten” who needs a home because they reportedly “love the idea of saving a cat’s life.” Kelce sounds up to the task too because he’s been a great cat dad so far to Swift’s three fur babies, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button.
“Travis has set up all sorts of scratching posts in the house for them,” the source said. “He’s always buying them new toys and is even planning to build them a cat patio so they can have outdoor time without having to risk them getting lost or worse.” How cute is that? A CAT-io! Those three cats are so lucky to have such loving parents — they are spoiled.
Swift adopted Meredith, named after Ellen Pompeo’s character in Grey’s Anatomy, in 2011. She has described the feline as her most reclusive of the bunch. She reassured fans that her eldest cat wasn’t missing in a 2021 Instagram video, and she promised that “Meredith just hates having her picture taken.” Olivia joined the cat clan in 2014 and is named after Mariska Hargitay’s Law & Order: SVU character. The kitty was even able to meet her namesake in 2015. “This is Olivia Benson meeting Olivia Benson, and um, things are going well so far,” Swift said in a social media post.
Benjamin Button has Brad Pitt’s 2008 film to thank for his name. He unexpectedly joined Swift’s family after she met him on the set of her music video for “ME!” in 2019. On Instagram Live, per People, Swift admitted that the cat wrangler handed her the ball of fluff and that was all it took for her to adopt him. “She handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and … he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love,” she shared.
Well, there might be a fourth fur ball on the horizon for Kelce and Swift, who have proven they are building a life together — one cat at a time.
