Freddie Prinze Jr. Shares the Secret to His Successful Hollywood Marriage to Sarah Michelle Gellar

One of Hollywood’s strongest marriages is going to stay solid, thanks to a very smart PR strategy that they’ve employed for decades. Freddie Prinze Jr. is revealing why his marriage to Sarah Michelle Gellar has thrived despite the entertainment industry not having the best track record when it comes to relationships.

The 48-year-old actor shared with Brian Austin Green, Sharna Burgess, and Randy Spelling on their Nov. 4 Oldish podcast that they made a “choice” early on to keep their private life off the paparazzi radar. Prinze believes that public figures “can control it to a certain degree” and not be in direct fire of the camera lenses.

“I don’t know how deliberate [others] are in trying to avoid that BS,” the She’s All That star explained of his 22-year marriage to Gellar. “I know how easy it’s been for us because I don’t go anywhere. I don’t go to parties. People don’t see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places. We have our restaurants that we like, and they’re not super trendy in places where paparazzi hang out. So, we’re good at avoiding it.”

Prinze also appreciates that there are “way more famous” people living on their street in Los Angeles. “They’ll go follow Schwarzenegger and leave me alone,” he joked. The dynamic duo is still pretty famous, though, especially since Gellar was on the Millennial hit show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Still, Gellar echoed her husband’s sentiments to E! News in February about keeping their family life with daughter Charlotte, 15, and son Rocky, 12, as normal as possible. “I actually will go paint with him,” she said of her husband’s love for painting miniature figurines. “I love it. Mine aren’t as good as his. I don’t do it as often. I also love adult coloring books. Sometimes, I’ll just go up to his office with him. We’ll just paint, and we’ll talk and just chill.”

The paparazzi certainly won’t find anything scandalous with shots of the wholesome couple engaging in arts and crafts activities. After being together for over two decades, Prinze and Gellar found the perfect life that works for them in a very crazy industry. “There’s no secret to it, and it wasn’t hard,” summed up Prinze on the Oldish podcast. “We just don’t like that life. You know?”

Prinze and Gellar’s down-to-earth approach to love is so sweet!
