It’s officially Love Actually season, meaning it’s time to binge it as much as possible before Christmas. The great thing about the 2003 romcom classic is that there are so many beautiful storylines, and everyone has a favorite. However, there’s one storyline that has fans split for decades now: the one involving Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Yup, we’re talking about the cue card scene, and now, Knightley revealed what she thinks about the controversial scene.
But if you need a recap: we got you. In the film, Love Actually, there’s one storyline that follows a man Mark (Lincoln) who’s hopelessly in love with his best friend Peter’s (Ejiofor) wife, Juliet (Knightley). After discovering that he adores her, he later confesses his love to her with cue cards, despite his best friend being in the next room.
Here’s the scene below:
And on Nov 29, Knightley revealed what she thinks about the scene while on the Graham Norton Show via New York Post.
“I was stuck in traffic for ages recently, and a car full of builders next to me started holding up the signs like in the movie,” she said. “It was creepy and sweet at the same time, much like it was in the film.”
Now, she’s quite split on it, much like the other cast members are.
Martine McCutcheon didn’t think it was creepy, but director Richard Curtis said it was creepy in hindsight. And fans are even more split on the iconic scene, leaving many to debate if it’s cute or creepy.
