Gwyneth Paltrow’s Daughter Apple’s Actions During Her Debutante Ball Debut Has the Internet Divided

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter, Apple Martin, has found herself in a bit of a controversy, and lots of people on TikTok are talking about it.

In case you missed it, she made her debut at le Bal des Debutantes, which is all to raise money for charities that help young women. Apple arrived with a bunch of other young women to make their debut, and Apple arrived in a custom Valentino gown that took 750 hours of work. Now, at the event, she did something that has the internet split.

The account @parismatch shared a TikTok that shows we see photographers taking photos of another debutante, Alienor Loppin de Montmort (who looked gorgeous in a black Emmanuel Ungaro gown). Then, Apple comes from the side, exaggeratedly stepping next to her and posing for the camera herself. You can see it below:

Now, many accused Apple of stealing Alienor’s thunder, and cutting off her time with photographers to get more on her. Many commented, saying things like “she just came and stole that other girl’s thunder…ok,” “gross behavior,” and “just like that I can’t stand Apple Martin !”

However, quite a few people have seen this as more a lighthearted moment between pals, saying, “This made me like her. She has a sense of humour over the ridiculousness of this.” Another person added, “Apple Marin is so cute. I like her energy.”

It’s unclear if they’re pals, or if this was planned. But either way, the internet has some thoughts about this interaction.

For those who don’t know, Paltrow and Martin’s daughter, Apple Blythe Alison Martin, was born on May 14, 2004. In recent years, she’s attended Vanderbilt University, made her fashion week debut in 2023, and has been modeling on and off.

While she has yet to publicly talk about le Bal or this controversy, Apple did give rare details about her fashion sense. In a previous interview with Vogue, Apple revealed that she adores 1990s fashion, saying, “I love sweaters and oversized cardigans, loafers, and a good pair of comfy Levis. The most important thing for me is feeling like my genuine self when wearing an outfit; I’m aiming for a mix of classic ’90s and cool grandpa.”
