The Later Daters stars Anise and Willie didn’t get the happy ending fans might have hoped for as Anise revealed in a post-show interview.
Dr. Anise Martin captured the hearts of viewers of the brand new Netflix dating show who watched her reenter the dating scene at 67, ultimately finding a connection with 55-year-old Willie Cooper.
As she shared on the show, Anise had a challenging romantic history after tragically losing her first husband in a work-related accident, leaving her to raise her children alone. Anise went on to marry two more times but was single for about 20 years before she joined The Later Daters.
Anise and Willie were paired up in episode five of The Later Daters, after Anise had been on three unsuccessful dates. Anise has her daughter, Dwayna, to thank for her romance with Willie as it was her who picked him after producers suggested she set up a blind date for her mom.
“Just looking at you, it’s taking my breath away,” Willie told Anise upon meeting her, sending viewers of the show wild.
“I’m smiling right along with Anise and Willie. Their attraction to each other is so cute and refreshing. We may be witnessing a love at first sight moment,” one X user wrote. “The vibe between Anise and Willie is off the charts! I love it,” another added.

Are Anise & Willie Still Together After The Later Daters?
Anise and Willie are no longer together and split up about six months after the show was filmed in the summer of 2023.
“We realized we don’t have enough in common to build anything on, but we’re still friendly,” Anise told People in a Dec. 3 interview. “He lives really far from me. When it came down to the direction he was trying to go and what I was trying to do, it just did not match up.”
All signs on social media pointed to this too, as eagle-eyed fans noticed! Anise commented on one of Willie’s Instagram posts back in June 2023 but doesn’t currently follow him on the platform. Willie is also not following Anise and they haven’t shared any photos together since the show was filmed.
After connecting in episode five, marketing executive Anise and government K-9 specialist Willie had two more dates on the show, a hike in episode seven that ended with a kiss, and a fine-dining date in the finale episode where they revealed Anise had already met Willie’s mother.
“I relish the fact that just one little a-ha moment has changed my life forever. Priceless. Priceless,” Anise told the cameras of her budding romance.
Despite the hopeful start, it seems like fans will have to wait to see exactly how things panned out for Anise and Willie.
