Donald Trump Jr. & His New Girlfriend Reportedly Asked His Dad to ‘Send’ Kimberly Guilfoyle Away

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Donald Trump announced he nominated Kimberly Guilfoyle as the U.S. ambassador to Greece. While that might sound like a reward for her hard work during the campaign, it seems like her broken engagement to Donald Trump Jr. also factored into the equation. 

To catch everyone up to speed, Donald Jr. has moved on to a new relationship with Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson. The timeline of one romance ending and the other one beginning is a little bit hazy, but a People source noted, “Bettina wants Kim out of the area.” It was a way for Donald Trump to gracefully exit his eldest son’s ex without causing too much drama — or so they thought.

“They are trying to send Kim abroad,” the insider continued. “They waited for the election to pass but they didn’t want the split to get in the way of anything to hurt Donald in the election.” Guilfoyle’s tumultuous relationship with the Trump family was often whispered about after she began dating Donald Jr. in 2018. The situation didn’t seem to smooth itself out even after they got engaged in 2020. 

The strain between Donald Trump and Guilfoyle was well-known in political circles. She drew his ire when she became the national campaign chair for Eric Greitens’ Senate bid in Missouri in 2021. The former Governor of Missouri didn’t have the best track record after he had sexual assault allegations lodged against him which ultimately led to his resignation from office. A source told Politico, “Trump thinks Greitens is problematic, and that Kim is annoying. He said, ‘Why the f**k is she working for him?’”

That tension probably didn’t help Donald Jr.’s relationship because the People insider claimed he’s been together with Anderson for “about six months.” He also wasn’t shy about flaunting his alleged affair because he “even took [Anderson] on a trip to Alaska and introduced her around as his girlfriend when he was still very much with Kim.”

But what it all comes down to is Donald Jr.’s sometimes-rocky relationship with his father. “Don Jr. has always wanted to look good in his father’s eyes,” the source added. “Someone like Bettina, who is and has been a model, and is in Waspy circles of Palm Beach is something that would impress him.” It’s a complicated web of relationships in the Trump family.
