Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Might Have Distanced Themselves From Their New Netflix Series Polo

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s latest Netflix project, Polo, dropped on Dec. 10 and royal fans haven’t heard a peep from them about the series. The press leading up to the premiere has been minimal which begs the question of why the Sussexes weren’t out there creating awareness about the project.

Hollywood journalist Sean McNulty told The Daily Beast that Polo “hasn’t been on my radar at all this week, which maybe says it all right there.” The streaming network has been busy promoting other projects, including Lisa Kudrow’s series No Good Deed, Jason Bateman’s movie Carry-On, and Angelina Jolie’s award-season film Maria. “The lack of a proper, visible press campaign for a series from Harry & Meghan raises an eyebrow, to say the least,” McNulty added.

Polo‘s executive producer Miloš Balać spoke to People instead of with Harry or Meghan, which doesn’t carry the same weight. He praised the couple for their “hands-on” approach to the sports docuseries. “They really had a vision for trying to get polo to be accessible to a wider audience. Prince Harry knows the sport inside and out,” he explained. “To have a polo expert in-house with him was so special. I think a lot of projects have EPs that can give great notes, but it’s rare that you have someone who’s truly an expert in the subject that you are documenting.”

The show is currently not in Netflix’s Top 10 globally, or in the U.K. or U.S., according to the network’s Tudum site. That doesn’t bode well for their production deal, but Meghan still has her upcoming cooking show in the pipeline to save the day. The launch of her American Riviera Orchard (ARO) brand is expected to bring quite a bit of fanfare to her career pivot.

The outlook is rather positive for the Duchess of Sussex and next year is a big one for her. “Both the Netflix project and her brand will come out within the same timeline in the New Year,” a source told Page Six in November. “It’s going to be a good year for Meghan specifically, she’s spent the majority of the year doing work behind the scenes to launch a project in the first few months of 2025.”

While critics are ready to write the Sussexes off, they seem to be finding a solid path of philanthropy and commercial endeavors. Still, Polo didn’t seem to fit into the Sussexes’ new plans.
