Christmas is a time for miracles and this year may mark a thawing in the royal family feud once and for all — if Kate Middleton has her way. After a year focused on her health, the Princess of Wales reportedly has reprioritized her life after battling cancer.

King Charles III’s former butler, Grant Harrold, revealed to GB News that Kate is thinking about reaching out to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their years-long feud. “I believe that Catherine will reach out to Harry and Meghan and wish them a Happy Christmas and I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out,” Harrold suggested. “The thing about Christmas is that it’s all about goodwill to others, letting bygones be bygones, forgetting the past, moving into the New Year.”

After a year of worries, the former palace staffer believes that there’s something “magical about Christmas that gets families back together.” He thinks that “things are moving in the right direction” and the rift that has rocked the palace since 2020 will be healed in the future. It will take some time, but Harrold sees some softer feelings ahead in 2025. “I have a feeling that they are. I really do think they are, but that’s just my personal feeling,” he added.

It’s not surprising that the Sussexes will spend Christmas in California with Meghan’s family. They last attended a Sandringham holiday in 2018. Prince Andrew and his family will also be skipping the annual event amid the Duke of York’s brewing spy scandal. Andrew and Sarah Ferguson will stay at Royal Lodge while Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice will be visiting their in-laws. The royal family‘s holiday will look much different this year.

While it might be easy for Kate to usher in better relations with Harry and Meghan and King Charles, she’s going to have to work hard to convince her husband, Prince William. Katie Nicholl, author of Kate The Future Queen, told The Sun that the “Prince of Wales remains very, very angry and upset and feels very betrayed.” She also believes that it will be Kate who changes the course of the family’s issues. “But I do think when you go through something like a cancer diagnosis and you go through the sort of journey that she has done, and you confront your own mortality, you realize life is short. It’s far too short for rifts and family feuds,” she noted.

All it takes is one person to reach out with a warm gesture, and Christmas is the perfect time to end the royal family feud.
