Ivanka Trump firmly stepped away from politics when Donald Trump completed his first administration in January 2021. Still, she didn’t publicly confirm her exit until November 2022 when her father announced his third run for the White House. Since then, Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner have returned to their socialite circle in Miami, but there seem to be hints of their former political lives lingering.
Instead of mingling with Washington, D.C. power players, Ivanka and Kushner appear to be keeping close company with people who could play a role in Donald Trump’s second administration. On Saturday, Dec. 28, the dynamic duo was spotted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s holiday party at celebrity hotspot Matsuhisa in Aspen, Colorado. (You can see the photos here.)
The Amazon founder “recently pledged to donate $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund” per Fox News, which is a major turning point in their relationship after feuding for years during his first time in office. “I’m very hopeful — he seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation,” Bezos said at The New York TimesDealBook Summit in early December. “My point of view is, if I can help him do that, I’m going to help him.”
It appears that Women Who Work author and her husband are playing the social political game for her father. She and Kushner can finesse the important billionaire relationships that Donald Trump favors by attending benefits and parties related to the people they want to curry favor with. With Forbes predicting in November that Kushner “will soon be a billionaire,” it’s the perfect way for Donald Trump to utilize his daughter and son-in-law outside of the White House.
Ivanka is shifting to political “influencer” in Donald Trump’s second administration. “She is choosing to use her influence now on a more personal level” to “positively impact her own community,” a family insider told CNN. “Being able to have an impact in that way, while allowing her the time to be prioritizing her young children and their privacy, is where she wants to be.”
Ivanka may claim to have quit politics, but it appears she’s still a player in the game.
