Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer Says His Countersuit Against Blake Lively Will Be a ‘Pursuit of Truth’

On December 21, news broke that Blake Lively was suing her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and orchestrating a full-fledged retaliation campaign against her. Safe to say the news was surprising for fans, no matter who you sided with when the feud rumors first came up.

But now that Lively’s lawsuit has spread around the world, it’s Baldoni who is taking legal action to clear his name. According to his attorney, Bryan Freedman, the Jane the Virgin star is planning to countersue the Gossip Girl alum.

“This is not a response or countersuit — it’s a deliberate pursuit of truth,” Freedman clarified to People.

“This lawsuit will uncover and expose the false and destructive narrative that was intentionally engineered by a trusted media publication who relied upon nefarious sources and neglected a thorough fact-checking process to confirm the validity of these texts,” Freedman said, accusing the New York Times story, the outlet which first broke the news of Lively suit, of altering evidence.

Per Freedman, Baldoni’s imminent legal action with have “insurmountable” evidence that will shine a light on what really happened on set.

“In over three decades of legal practice, I’ve never witnessed such unethical behavior, fueled by those who abuse their power and manipulate the truth,” Freedman continued in his statement. “This isn’t an isolated case; it’s a recurring pattern in Hollywood and the mainstream media where careers and reputations are destroyed to maintain control.”

“Legacy media has long weaponized their platforms to distort the truth, exploit vulnerabilities, and destroy lives without accountability,” he said. “These lawsuits will confront this system head-on, ensuring that no individual or entity, no matter how influential, can continue perpetuating this cycle of fear and destruction.”

In his closing remark, Freedman seemingly threatened Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, who just happen to be one of the wealthiest and most powerful couples in Hollywood. “The truth will not only come to light — it will dismantle the illusions propped up by those who believe themselves untouchable,” Freedman concluded.

While Baldoni prepares to file legal action on his side, Lively is still dealing with the consequences of coming forward. “Blake along with her team have been working on this lawsuit for months. It’s truly been so ugly for her,” a source told People. “And insanely stressful. She’s never dealt with anything like this before.”

With a countersuit surely to come, it seems Lively won’t be out of the legal woods anytime soon.
