Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleckfinalized the financial details of their two-year marriage on Monday, Jan. 6. Still, it might the emotional aspects of the relationship that she’s ready to move on from. It sounds like Bennifer 2.0 did not turn out to be the dream relationship she was hoping for with The Accountant 2 star.
“The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end,” a source divulged to People. But there’s hope on the horizon for Lopez. “She’s in a really good place and just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter,” they added. With her latest movie, Unstoppable, getting solid reviews and the highly anticipated movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman, debuting at the Sundance Film Festival, J.Lo is back on track.
Lopez is taking back her maiden name too. She changed her last name to “Affleck” when she married the 52-year-old actor in 2022, but she’s reclaiming “Jennifer Lynn Lopez” as her own again. It probably feels like an empowering move after throwing herself headfirst into the marriage which included a Prime Video documentary of their romance with The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
While she developed her passion project, Affleck didn’t exactly seem thrilled about their relationship being put on display. “I don’t think he’s very comfortable with me doing all of this,” Lopez said in the documentary. “But he loves me, he knows I’m an artist and he’s going to support me in every way he can because he knows he can’t stop me from making the music I made and writing the words that I wrote. That’s going to happen, and he doesn’t want to stop me.”
Fans will probably analyze what went wrong in Lopez and Affleck’s marriage for years and at least one insider claimed that three was a crowd. “J.Lo felt threatened by Jen Garner for almost all of her marriage. The way Ben would run to her for advice any time they had a fight drove her crazy,” an insider told OK! Magazine. Whether that was a factor or not in Lopez and Affleck’s divorce, it’s time for her to start her next chapter.
Hopefully, Lopez will create her own fairy tale.
