Kate Middleton Might Be Making a ‘Show-Stopping’ Royal Appearance at This Glamorous Event

Kate Middleton celebrated her 43rd birthday on Jan. 9, a major mark of a fresh year after her battle with cancer in 2024. The Princess of Wales will continue to maintain a lighter schedule for her royal engagements in 2025, but it looks like her first major appearance this year will be a glamorous one.

Hollywood is in the middle of its awards show season and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts always throws a big event for the BAFTA Awards in London. It’s always been considered the British equivalent of the Oscars — so it’s a prestigious award. According to the Daily Mail, Kate is expected to make a “show-stopping” royal return at the red carpet event. Event organizers are reportedly “pulling out all the stops” to the Feb. 16 award show so that Kate arrives to great fanfare.

BAFTA’s film committee chairman Anna Higgs told GB News that she is “very hopeful” that the Princess of Wales will attend after she skipped last year’s ceremony. In 2024, Prince William participated in the event by himself for the first time since 2010. At the time, royal fans only knew that Kate had “planned abdominal surgery” because her cancer diagnosis wasn’t revealed until March 22, 2024.

The Prince of Wales is the President of the British Academy of Film and Television and is quite the movie buff (especially when it comes to Tom Cruise films). “William and Kate love to watch the nominated films beforehand and we know Kate enjoys meeting those working in the film industry,” the Daily Mail source added. “We have been told that she wouldn’t want to miss it, so she’s hoping to be there with William.”

The formal night out on the town will likely mark one of Kate’s few appearances in February. The awards show is a little over a month away and will continue to mark her “slow continuation of the princess balancing her recovery and her public-facing duties,” per the Daily Mail. The Princess of Wales is taking her time in her royal recovery, but the BAFTAs is the perfect place on her calendar to shine her bright light.
