There’s been a lot of buzz around Hugh Jackman and Sutton Fosterconfirming their romance, but what about the Wolverine star’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness? She made a rare appearance with her 19-year-old daughter Ava at the 2025 Australian Open on Tuesday, Jan. 14, and she looked unbothered by the situation.
The mother-daughter duo was there to watch Emma Navarro play a match against Peyton Stearns. The photos showed a tender moment between them with Ava placing her head on her mother’s shoulder and Furness gently touching her daughter’s head. The casual, but sweet, sighting seems to confirm what an insider told the Daily Mailabout Furness’ reaction to Jackman’s paparazzi snapshots with Foster.
“Deborra-Lee feels a sense of relief, to be honest with you,” a source divulged. “She has been plagued with suspicions. She was told it wasn’t true, and that they were nothing more than close friends who worked together.” Jackman and Foster starred in the Broadway revival of The Music Man from December 2021 to January 2023. The 56-year-old actor reportedly denied the alleged affair, but Furness “trusted her intuition and her intuition was right.”
The 69-year-old Australian actress isn’t looking back on her 27 years with Jackman though — she’s only looking ahead to the future. “She finally feels at ease after getting confirmation that her fears and suspicions were warranted. She can now fully close this chapter and move on,” they added. Jackman’s relationship with Foster was described as “Broadway’s worst-kept secret” by Us Weekly and was “the reason” for his divorce from Furness in September 2023.
In January 2024, Furness gave vague remarks about her future without Jackman, and she admitted that it was a mixed bag. “It is kind of exciting,” she shared with the Daily Telegraph. “You know what, change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it, but I think it is probably our greatest gift.”
At the time of their split, Jackman and Furness showed a unified front that didn’t dive into any of the strife going on behind the scenes. “We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the statement read, per People, in September 2023. “Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
