Everyone is happy to see the second chapter of Pamela Anderson‘s career with her dazzling turn in The Last Showgirl, but Thursday’s Oscar nominations delivered some disappointment for fans. The 57-year-old actress was not nominated for her role as Shelly, the seasoned Las Vegas dancer whose life is disrupted when the show closes after 30 years.

While award show pundits talked about Anderson’s snub, she had a more positive view of the situation. “Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected,” the Love, Pamela author told Elle. “Doing the work is the win. That’s what I like to do, and I think we can lose sight of that sometimes in this whole crazy awards season, but it’s nice to be recognized, and it’s all a bonus.”

Anderson was nominated for a Golden Globe Award and a SAG Award for Best Actress, and she’s really excited by one particular nomination. “I’m happy for the SAG nomination, that’s [voted on by] your peers,” she added. “That’s really cool. This has been a long road promoting this film.” Even though she didn’t get her coveted Oscar nomination, she is grateful for the recognition — and the best form of revenge for Hulu’s Pam & Tommy series.

She found the depiction of her stolen sex tape very “painful” because they did not ask for her permission. “I mean, it’s just one of those things,” Anderson said on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, via People, in early January. “It happened and now I’m here, and so this is the best payback. I’m being seen and recognized for my work and not these tawdry moments.”

Now, Anderson is booked and busy. She will be starring in two upcoming films, Rosebush Pruning, with Elle Fanning and Riley Keough, and The Naked Gun reboot with Liam Neeson. Hollywood has finally acknowledged that her talent is far deeper than a red, high-cut Baywatch swimsuit, Anderson has the ability to break our hearts with her award-nominated skills.
