Carrie Underwood’s Reason for Staying Quiet After Donald Trump’s Inauguration Might Surprise You

Carrie Underwood‘s decision to sing at the inauguration on Jan. 20 came as a surprise to many of her country music fans. The 41-year-old artist steered clear of politics for most of her career, so the announcement was jarring to some of her followers because of Donald Trump‘s divisive policies. She felt the backlash immediately.

Still, she went out there and did her job, singing “America the Beautiful” a cappella after some technical snafus. There were reports from the Daily Mail that she had a “mini hissy fit” after the event because the presentation inside the U.S. Capitol was underwhelming compared to the usual grand view overlooking the National Mall when it is outside.

“Carrie was dissatisfied with her performance at the event, primarily due to the limited space she was given, which left her feeling cramped and uncomfortable,” a source claimed. “She felt like she was literally just in a room with people all around her and a microphone. This threw off the acoustics.” It’s clear that the day didn’t turn out the way she wanted because the “Before He Cheats” singer did not share a single photo from the inauguration to her Instagram account — her silence spoke volumes.

Now, people from Underwood’s inner circle are talking to The U.S. Sun and downplaying her reported backstage behavior. “Reports of her having a ‘hissy fit’ isn’t true though, she isn’t a toddler, but she was and is frustrated,” they explained to the media outlet. “Her keeping quiet is an indicator things did not go well for her, not how she wanted.” The source of her frustration seems to stem from what she was sold by Donald Trump’s inauguration committee.

“How the performance was pitched to her and how it ended up going were two very different experiences,” the insider added. “Most of that had to do with the event being moved indoors which decreased the guest list and how many people she could bring with her – something she was not happy about.”

Underwood seems reluctant to discuss the experience publicly and she would rather focus on her upcoming return to American Idol as a judge. Still, she’s reportedly “second-guessing” her decision to sing at Donald Trump’s inauguration and is “wondering if it was worth it.” Judging from her silence, it sounds like the situation is weighing heavily on Underwood.
