Fans have heard so much about HGTV’s The Flip Off due to Christina Haack‘s divorce from Josh Hall, and they will finally have the opportunity to watch the show on Wednesday, Jan. 29. The promos already teased Hall’s appearance, and now, viewers know how many episodes he will appear in before the couple’s split.
Haack admitted to Us Weekly that her ex “was very hard to film with,” so she was grateful “that he left after episode one because the show would’ve sucked.” That’s all the information fans need to know about their contentious relationship and that tension plays out in the first episode — so much drama! The 41-year-old TV personality isn’t shying away from how Hall’s exit helped, not hurt, the competition series.
“It’s so much easier without somebody else bothering me,” Haack explained on the Jan 28 episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. “I mean, I don’t have to ask approval from anyone, no one’s, like, weighing me down.” She isn’t alone in her opinion either. Heather Rae El Moussa, who is married to Haack’s first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, has her back.
“Not to be mean, but he definitely didn’t have the best personality. So, it’s like a breath of fresh air. And [Christina is] in a really good place,” Heather told Us Weekly. The Flip Off is a home renovation competition show, but it’s clearly three against one in this real-life situation. Haack added, “This isn’t Josh’s show. No one’s going to miss that he’s not in it. Josh is not a TV host, he’s not a house flipper, he’s not a designer. He was just my husband in it. With Tarek, we built everything together, and I still have respect for him. I have no respect for Josh.”
Once viewers get past the first episode of The Flip Off, Hall’s presence isn’t needed as she figures out a way to get help along the way from industry experts, including a cameo by her second ex-husband, Ant Anstead. Still, Hall is looking to earn his share for the shows he participated in while married to Haack. With no prenuptial agreement in place, he probably has a strong case.
Family law attorney Aliette H. Carolan, Esq., who is not representing either party in their divorce, told SheKnows in July 2024, “With regard to the rights to the shows they created jointly and during the marriage, it appears California’s community properties should apply. Josh will likely preserve his rights to the shows he participated in.”
It’s never a dull moment in reality television!
