Travis Kelce is Under Fire from Swifties After His Surprising Comments About Donald Trump

Taylor Swift may be basking in her title as “unofficial queen” of the Kansas City Chiefs’ WAGs, but her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, isn’t feeling as much love leading up to the Super Bowl. At a press conference earlier this week, Kelce stirred the pot with his “diplomatic” reaction to news that Donald Trump might attend the Super Bowl tomorrow. 

“It’s a great honor,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said. “I think you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool.”

Swifties aren’t as convinced that it’s “pretty cool,” and they did not mince words when calling Kelce out for his blasé remarks. “Travis, you need to learn the phrase ‘next question.’ Just move on.”  

“It’s an honor to be visited by the man who harasses your girlfriend? Grow a f***ing spine.”

For those who don’t recall, back in September, Trump lashed out at Swift on Truth Social after she endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris for president. “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!,” Trump posted in his signature all-caps style. Of course, as soon as Kelce’s comments about Trump’s Super Bowl attendance being “pretty cool,” Trump changed his tune. He took to Truth Social to call Kelce “the absolute best tight end in football.” Yeah. 

Meanwhile, fans have continued questioning Swift herself, with some critical fans connecting the dots between her relationships and those in Trump’s inner circle — like her new bestie Brittany Mahomes. “Why would Taylor care when she’s friends with Trump supporters? I mean, filthy rich white people have the privilege of not caring about integrity lol,” one fan quipped. 

And then there’s Kelce’s own history making the outrage all the more complicated. Back in 2017, he joined his teammates in kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality. Now? Fans are noting how far we’ve come — or, you know, not.  “Blind nationalism is f***ed, especially now,” said one critic. “He already knows how to take a risk. It’s okay to be disappointed when people with this much privilege decide to be part of the problem.”

For now, Kelce is lying low while the fanbase does what it does best — obsess over every detail. Meanwhile, Swift appears unfazed by the whole ordeal. Sources close to her say she’s proud of Kelce and pumped to cheer him on come game day. But in the court of social media, more and more fans seem to be united in their call for this jet-setting, ultra-rich couple to stop brushing off ethics with lukewarm “diplomatic” answers.
