In case you missed it, Isla Fisher spoke about her life after her divorce from Sacha Baron Cohen to The Sunday Times, remarking on how they’re focusing on co-parenting and how much her female friends have been helping her; and apparently Cohen isn’t too happy about this.
To give you some context, the comment that allegedly made Cohen upset was this: “The women in my life have held me … the female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me. I’m actually going to get emotional,” she said, tearing up. “I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”
Now, friends of Cohen told the DailyMailthat behind closed doors, he’s upset about these comments because he allegedly saw them as a direct dig to him.
“When Sacha learned of the interview, he hit the roof, I’m told, though outwardly he has appeared supportive by ‘liking’ the Instagram post of the front cover put out by the magazine and by Isla herself,” the source said. “He interpreted the comments as a clear dig at him – and also making clear where her loyalties lie.”
“This comment left Sacha furious,” the pal told the outlet. “It felt like a blatant statement that she was on side with Rebel, the whole women sticking together thing was obvious and that is what he drew from the situation and it has made him very cross and upset.”
They added, “Sacha was fuming when he read that, he felt utterly betrayed.”
For those who don’t know, Fisher and Cohen met back in 2001, and they started dating soon after. They got engaged in 2004, and married in 2010. They share three children named Olive, born in 2007, Elula, born in Aug 2010, and Montgomery, born in March 2015.
After over 20 years together and nearly 14 years of marriage, they called it quits and announced the decision months later on Instagram back in 2024.
“After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” she said. “We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
