Travis Kelce’s Next Career Move Might Put a Halt on This Next Step in His Romance With Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce is at something of a career crossroads, and Taylor Swift just might be part of the equation. After the Kansas City Chiefs’ crushing Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce admitted he’s “kicking everything down the road” when it comes to making a decision about his future. With retirement rumors circling and his entertainment ventures expanding — like his appearances on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? and Grotesquerie— the NFL star now faces tough questions about what’s next.

According to team insider Nate Taylor, the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid envisions Kelce transitioning to more of a situational playmaker and mentor role, per Marca. The idea? Develop the next generation of tight ends while easing the physical strain on their aging star. “The fact that we keep going to those AFC Championships, to Super Bowls,” Kelce explained on his New Heights podcast earlier this week, “that means I’m playing an extra three games more than everybody else in the entire league. And that’s a lot of wear and tear on your body.”

Translation? It’s no walk in the park — or in Kelce’s case, a sprint into the end zone. The grind of this role would demand serious time and energy, leaving little space for romantic dinners and spontaneous weekend getaways with a certain pop icon who Kelce’s family adores. “They’ve never seen Travis so happy with a girlfriend before,” a source previously revealed to Page Six, adding that Donna and Ed Kelce “love” Swift and hope she’s in the picture for the long haul.

But being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend isn’t exactly an under-the-radar commitment. There have been rumors of Kelce proposing in the past, and there have also been whispers that Kelce is feeling a lot of pressure to get down on one knee. Add in Chiefs training camps, team meetings, and sideline pep talks, and Kelce’s famously busy calendar could get downright overwhelming. “It’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man,” he said of his decision to potentially return to the NFL.
