Just two days ago, rumors were swirling that exes Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohenweren’t on the best of terms. According to sources, the Borat star felt personally slighted by Fisher’s comments about the female friendships in her life and became “furious” with his ex-wife. But, before rumors continue to escalate, the exes are already shutting it down.
Over the weekend, Cohen gave a show of support to his ex-wife’s latest photoshoot. On Instagram, Fisher, who stars in the new long-awaited rom-com Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, shared a few photos of herself for The Sunday Times‘ latest Style Issue. In the last post, she’s lying down on a bed with a pink mini-dress, a diamond necklace and statement red lips.
In the caption, she wrote, “Happy Valentine’s Day 💕.”
In the comment section, her ex gave a nod of support. “Stunning photoshoot,” the actor wrote, to which she responded, “thank you 😊.”
Though it may be a small gesture, Cohen’s comment goes a long way in showing the world, and perhaps Fisher herself, that there’s no tension between them.
Previously, sources told Daily Mail that Cohen was “furious” about the following comment in her cover story. “The women in my life have held me … the female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me,” Fisher told The Times. “I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It’s been this expansive learning curve.”
Shortly after the cover was released, insiders were dishing on Cohen’s reported reaction. “It felt like a blatant statement that she was on side with Rebel [Wilson],” the source said, referring to Wilson’s April 2024 comments about Cohen’s alleged inappropriate behavior. “The whole women sticking together thing was obvious and that is what he drew from the situation and it has made him very cross and upset.”
“Sacha was fuming when he read that, he felt utterly betrayed,” the source added.
But, now that Cohen’s supported his ex on social media, it’s safe to say we’re taking these reports with a grain of salt.
As a reminder, Fisher and Cohen met in 2001 and got married nine years later in 2010. They share three children named Olive, born in 2007, Elula, born in Aug 2010, and Montgomery, born in March 2015.
In April 2024, they announced their divorce. “After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage,” she said in a statement on Instagram. “We have always prioritized our privacy and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
So while we can’t say for certain that these exes will continue to be smooth-sailing throughout their split, it seems they’re staying civil and even supportive towards one another, at least for now.
