Up until not too long ago, fans of Christina Haack thought that tensions were running high between her and her exes Ant Anstead and Josh Hall. After all, their quick marriages and messy divorces didn’t exactly pave the way for a healthy and friendly exes relationship. But, as it turns out, Anstead and Haack have turned things around and have finally been able to put the past behind them.
In an episode of Haack’s home renovation show The Flip Off, with ex Tarek El Moussa and his wife Heather Rae El Moussa, Haack talked about making amends with Anstead. According to her, Anstead, who’s the father of her five-year-old son Hudson, showed up for her amid her breakup with Hall in July 2024.
“I walked up to [Ant’s] door. He gave me a huge hug. We hadn’t hugged in years,” Haack said in a confessional, per People. “He just said ‘I’m so sorry for everything you’re going through and I’m here for you no matter what you need.'”
“It was a very nice moment,” she added. “We had a long talk after and we decided to put all the BS aside and be good co-parents.”
As a reminder, Haack and Anstead started dating in 2017 and were married from 2018 to 2020. In 2019, they welcomed their first son, Hudson.
Looking back, Haack knows that they probably should’ve buried the hatchet earlier. “As parents, it took us four and a half years to get to that point, which is really shameful,” she said.
Now, not only have the two reconciled, but Haack invited Anstead to be the guest judge on the show – a move that, of course, took Tarek and Heather by surprise. But after looking around the houses and assessing them, Anstead admitted that he might not be the best judge.
“I came into this endeavor thinking this was about assessing and judging based on the performance, the design, the execution, the house,” Anstead said in his deliberation. “But actually it dawned on me that it was so much more than that.”
“Hudson is five now,” he then continued, facing Haack. “And in those five years, it’s been really, really difficult. And that changed three months ago. The relationship that we have now is really, really important. And it’s been a transformation.”
For those reasons, Anstead admitted he’s too biased of a judge. “You and I will be connected forever because we have a kid,” he said. “So ultimately, I have to stand by the mother of my kid.”
He also delivered the news to Tarek and Heather directly. “It’s not gonna be something that you want to hear because unfortunately, it puts Christina and me on the same team forever,” he said. “Because of that, this judge is swayed, she’s on my team and you guys lose.” It’s unfair, sure, but it sure is a nice sentiment!
Knowing how much Haack wanted to win, good on her for choosing someone who’s on her side no matter what right now. Why not use that to her advantage, right?
