Brenda Song is most definitely rooting for brother-in-law Kieran Culkin ahead of the Oscars on March 2.
When the actress spoke to SheKnows at a Feb. 26 PaleyLive screening of her new show Running Point at The Paley Center in New York, she was in the midst of a hectic week of promotion for the Netflix comedy series which also stars Kate Hudson, Justin Theroux, Scott MacArthur and Drew Tarver. However, Sunday night’s award show is definitely on her mind.
“I’m so excited because, obviously, I’m allowed to be the confident one and know that he’s going to win,” Song, who is engaged to Kieran’s older brother, Macaulay Culkin, said. “He’s going to win, and it’s going to be incredible. He deserves it. He’s so talented.”
Kieran is nominated for his role in the Jesse Eisenberg-directed A Real Pain, for which the Succession star has already won a Golden Globe, Critics Choice Award, BAFTA and SAG Award.
“The movie is incredible. I love I have a soft spot for Jesse Eisenberg, always and forever,” says Song of her The Social Network co-star. “And so to see him get his flowers, I’m so happy for him, so proud of him.”
Song has been in a relationship with Macaulay since 2017 and the couple share two kids, 3-year-old Dakota and 2-year-old Carson.
After appearing in Gia Coppola’s critically-acclaimed The Last Showgirl late last year, Song is making her return to comedy with Running Point, writer/producer Mindy Kaling’s latest offering. In the show, which premiered on Feb. 27, Song plays the chief of staff at the pro basketball team when Hudson’s character, who has been overlooked in the family business, gets appointed as president. The two must work together to transform Isla (Hudson) from a party girl to a businesswoman.
Running Point is streaming on Netflix now.
