Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Make a Crucial Move Ahead of Her Netflix Series Launch

Meghan Markle‘s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan premieres on Tuesday, March 4 after a January delay due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Now, the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry are gearing up for this major brand pivot in a big way ahead of the show’s debut, too.

On Feb. 28, Axios revealed that the royal couple had hired a chief communications officer (CCO), Meredith Maines. According to the outlet, Maines will oversee both their personal and business public relations — it sounds like it’s a “reputation” management position. This is the first time Harry and Meghan have gone this route with staffing, but it is a strong move as the British tabloids chomp at the bit to declare her cooking show a failure before it even launches

Maines will be stepping into the role on March 3 in part, to replace Archewell’s former head of communications, Ashley Hansen, who is opening her own business. Their new CCO has experience in both the business and creative sectors, having worked for Hulu and Google on the tech side and as a talent manager for American Idol.

In a statement Axios, Maines shared her excitement about the big job ahead. “I’m honored to partner with Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, to highlight the amazing work they are doing through Archewell, their broader business portfolio, and nonprofit work,” Maines said. “I’m excited to help them tell their story as entrepreneurs, builders, and philanthropists while overseeing all communications for the couple and their ventures.”

Meghan is hoping that the personal touches she is adding to her show, and her new Instagram account will set her on a path of success as her As Ever brand launches this spring. “If you’ve followed along since my days of creating The Tig, you’ll know this couldn’t be truer for me,” she wrote in a Feb. 17 post. “This new chapter is an extension of what has always been my love language, beautifully weaving together everything I cherish — food, gardening, entertaining, thoughtful living, and finding joy in the everyday.”

Harry is coming off the continued success of his Invictus Games with the first winter event in Vancouver, Canada. “It’s incredible to be back in Canada. Canada couldn’t be more appropriate to host the first Winter Games. Everyone is so excited,” the Duke of Sussex gushed to People on Feb. 9. “To have my wife here supporting me is amazing. I love that she’s by my side. It’s such an important piece to this whole adventure.”

The dynamic duo is ready for this fresh restart, and they hope Maines will be a big piece to their puzzle as they firmly ground themselves in business away from the palace.
