Women lifting up and supporting other women is where it’s at — just ask Jenna Dewan and Jessie J. Since rumors surfaced that the singer could be dating Dewan’s ex, Channing Tatum, the internet has pitted the two women against each other. And, well, they’re simply not here for it.
On Friday, J posted a lengthy Instagram response to unfair (and often unkind) comparisons between the women’s looks, expressing her “disappointment.” Dewan responded by tweeting love, support and “nothing but respect” for J.

“Amen Jessie! Yes!!!! Women for women all the way. No need for negativity. Let’s live in a world where we support each other and raise each other up. Like I said before, positive vibes all the way. Nothing but respect,” Dewan tweeted, adding a heart emoji and the caption “Beautiful message @JessieJ.”

This is what female empowerment looks like! To her credit, J opened this meaningful dialogue by taking headlines to task for pitting her against Dewan.
“I rarely, but sometimes see that my name is involved in stories online that I do not agree to. I often ignore them as 99% of the time it is something that doesn’t serve any positivity to speak on,” J wrote on Instagram. “However there is a story I have seen be re written over and over again in the past few weeks that talks about myself being compared directly to another beautiful woman regarding our looks and people picking who they think is prettier.”
J went on to say she doesn’t feel good about these stories, and that “picking who is prettier and then continuing to say why” wasn’t a worthwhile activity for women.

“You only have to look at a few of the comments to see that these stories are not inspiring women supporting women but mostly women ripping other women down. I am so disappointed and embarrassed that my name is even involved. It’s not something I stand for, at all,” said J.
The “Domino” singer emphasized the negative impact these headlines and the behavior they encourage can have on young, impressionable girls.
She ended with a call for women to be in each other’s corners, saying, “Be sensitive with your words. Be kind with your words. You have no idea what they can do to someone. Alone, ladies, we are strong. But TOGETHER?! US WOMEN can truly CHANGE THE WORLD.”
Dewan and Tatum split in April, with Dewan filing for divorce last month. The couple has remained close and committed to co-parenting their 5-year-old daughter, Everly.

In recent weeks, both have appeared to move on romantically. Dewan has been photographed getting cozy with fellow actor Steve Kazee and, when asked about her new love life, told ET she was “very happy.”
Tatum and J’s relationship went public on Oct. 6 when they were spotted on a date at a mini-golf course. Earlier this week, Tatum even gushed about his rumored new girlfriend after attending her concert in London, England.

“Channing wants to do nothing but support Jessie J in every way,” a source told ET of the pair. “He has described her as ‘all goodness’ and told his friends she is such ‘a super talent.’ He seems to have become her No. 1 fan. His friends are so happy he has found someone. She is showing the same support to him.”
