How Jennifer Garner & Reese Witherspoon Feel About Ariana Grande’s ‘Thank U, Next’ Video

In case you somehow missed it, Ariana Grande dropped her massively popular “Thank U, Next” music video this week, in which she pays tributes to a bevy of nostalgic teen romcoms — including Jennifer Garner’s 13 Going on 30 and Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde. Over the weekend, both A-list actors responded to the now-viral tribute video.

Spoiler alert: They love it.

“Every now and then something comes along and just brightens your day,” Garner — who’s now 46, flirty and thriving — wrote on Instagram under a still of the re-created scene from 13 Going on 30. “@arianagrande you’re adorable. Thank you, pretty girl. #thankunext.”

It wasn’t long before Grande caught wind of Garner’s feedback and slid into the comments section to reply, gushing, “nooooooOoOOoOo i’m crying. i watched this movie every night before bed growing up (and i still do sometimes, especially when i’m sad). i adore you! thank you for all the inspiration and joy you’ve brought to my life i’m screaming bye.” Moments later, she added, “and by sometimes i literally mean everynight still.”

Like Garner, Witherspoon was flattered by one of her trademark movies, Legally Blonde, being included. In an Instagram post on Saturday, she wrote, “Thank u, next,” with a hand-clapping emoji, heart emoji and the hashtags #ElleWoodsForever and #ThinkPink.

She also took her appreciation to Twitter. “Can we please talk about @ArianaGrande’s Bend and Snap?! 10/10 nailed it!” Witherspoon wrote.

Adorably, Grande responded to Witherspoon by offering a bit of context and some understandable fangirling. “omg we tried to put our own twist on it so legal wouldn’t come for us but THANK U. this is the biggest honor. love u more than words,” Grande tweeted.

In case you’re curious, two other teen romcoms were featured in Grande’s video: Bring It On, starring Gabrielle Union and Kirsten Dunst, and Mean Girls, starring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams and Amanda Seyfried.

Although Union, Dunst, McAdams and Seyfried haven’t publicly acknowledged the video yet, Lohan responded via Instagram.

“Behind the scenes ain’t nobody Lindsay Lohan like the real Lindsay Lohan. But so flattered @arianagrande loving #MeanGirls so much! Also, I love #dynasty,” she wrote. Dynasty star Elizabeth Gillies played Mean Girls‘ Cady Heron in the new video.
