Reboots, reunions and sequels are popping up all the time, although we must admit we can’t help but give into the nostalgia sometimes. For example, the news that Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell and the rest of the Four Weddings and a Funeral cast is reuniting for a sequel to the classic film has us really excited, especially because of the form the sequel will take.

People reports that a fifth wedding will take place, 25 years after the original film hit theaters, in a 12-minute short that will benefit Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2019. Screenwriter Richard Curtis, who is the founder of Comic Relief, and the movie’s original director, Mike Newell, will both return for the project. So will every member of the original cast, per a short announcement video from Curtis posted to the Comic Relief Twitter account.

“Well, I’m quite excited,” Curtis said. “It’s going to have in it all the original cast: Andie MacDowell, John Hannah, Kristin Scott Thomas, Rowan Atkinson and Hugh Grant. And then there’s also going to be a couple of younger people because 25 years have passed and it’s a wedding.”
The short film is aptly titled One Red Nose Day and a Wedding, which riffs nicely on the original film title and puts the charity event in the spotlight. One detail Curtis did not reveal in his video is exactly who will be getting married at the fifth wedding: “I can’t tell you whose wedding it is because that’s the twist.” Fair enough.
Fans who donated to Comic Relief before Sunday, Dec. 9 could win the chance to go out for breakfast with the Four Weddings and a Funeral cast on Dec. 13, when they film the short sequel. Curtis said, “I think it is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.” He then joked, “Hugh Grant might not be around much longer.”
On Wednesday, MacDowell told People at the Women of Worth Gala, “They’re doing the 5th wedding. That’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m leaving on [Dec] 8th. I’m gonna be spending 10 days in London.” She said she didn’t know a reunion was in the works, but admitted, “I think it’s a great idea, though. I’ve read [the script]. It’s really good and funny.”
