Did you ever hear about the one where Jennifer Aniston hired a medium? Although it sounds like an episode of Friends, Aniston revealed that it wasn’t a TV storyline — in real life, she once had a ghost problem.
Appearing on The Late Late Show With James Corden alongside her Dumplin’ collaborator Dolly Parton, Aniston said that her first apartment in Los Angeles was haunted.

“I had just moved from New York City to California, and someone said to me, ‘Oh, you have a spirit in your house. You should have someone [come by] and clear the house. And I was like, ‘Oh man. I’ve landed in Los Angeles.’ We’re talking about ghosts, spirits and a ghost whisperer?” she recounted.
But it didn’t take long for Aniston and her (unnamed female) roommate to figure out that those rumors might have merit. Aniston explained that they began experiencing unexplained phenomena, such as the dishwasher or coffee maker starting by themselves. “Or the stereo would just turn on at full volume,” she said. “And it was terrifying!”
Although she originally thought the suggestion to have someone “clear” the house was silly, she ultimately did hire a medium to come visit the home. At first, things seemed to be going well. The medium put frankincense in an old ashtray and began vanquishing the spirit with words.
But when the medium walked to a different corner of the room, the ashtray inexplicably cracked, Aniston said.

“When we got to the really thick, thick, thick 1975 ashtray that was sitting on the table and that cracked, and she asked me to leave, then I…” Aniston said, stopping to imply that’s the moment she really believed the ghost was real.
And that’s not all — Aniston revealed the ghost “hated [her] roommate.” Instead of clueing her roomie in, though, Aniston confesses she simply ducked out for good, saying, “No, I moved out. I feel terrible, but I couldn’t say, ‘It didn’t like you.’ She’s fine… I don’t know. I got out of there too quick.”
Corden chose that moment to point out that perhaps the ghost wasn’t the only one with a grudge. “Sounds like it wasn’t just the ghost,” he said as the audience laughed. “It sounds like you didn’t like her very much.”

While Aniston doesn’t speak often about her paranormal experience, she did tell Harper’s Bazaar in 2017 that her time in that haunted Laurel Canyon home left an impression.
“Now, every house I go to, I have a healer or a medium come through,” Aniston told interviewer Amy Sedaris. “This makes me sound like an absolute insane human being.”
