Everyone’s favorite dancing competition show is taking a brief hiatus. According to E! News, Dancing with the Stars — which usually airs twice a year — will not be on the spring schedule over at ABC. Instead, the series isn’t expected to return until the fall of 2019.
The news comes less than one month after the controversial season 27 DWTS finale, when country radio personality Bobby Bones was crowned the winner. And while Bones was a good dancer who improved greatly over the course of the show, many thought Evanna Lynch or Milo Manheim would take home the trophy.
“As predicted, we’ll see you in September, and we’ll make sure it’s worth the wait!” host Tom Bergeron tweeted on Wednesday in response to DWTS‘ scheduling switch-up.

While the removal of Dancing with the Starsfrom the spring slate may sadden some fans, it isn’t the only big change to ABC’s spring lineup. A Million Little Things is moving to Thursdays starting Jan. 17. (The show previously aired on Wednesdays.) Whiskey Cavalier, a new drama starring Scott Foley (Felicity, Scandal) and Lauren Cohan (The WalkingDead) will debut on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10/9c, and Schooled — a spinoff of The Goldbergs — will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 8:30/9:30c right after the The Goldbergs.
As for what DWTS fans can do, there are plenty of new shows to check out. If you think you’ll go through some serious Dancing with the Stars withdrawals, season 27 is available to re-watch on Hulu or ABC Go. There’s also always taking up the samba or the fox-trot yourself.
