As if a surprise ceremony at the end of December wasn’t delightful enough, these new details about Ant Anstead’s proposal to Christina El Moussa only serve to make the story of their wedding that much more romantic — and we can’t get enough of it.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with People about their nuptials and the key events leading up to it, Anstead opened up about his proposal to El Moussa, who he had been dating since October 2017.
“We had an engagement, we just didn’t tell anyone,” Anstead commented, with People providing the supplementary information that they had actually gotten engaged in September and had chosen to keep that information private.
Anstead went on to describe how he popped the question, and frankly, the details will warm even the coldest of hearts: “I did the proposal on Newport Beach on the sand with some champagne at sunset.”
“He was like, ‘Let’s just go for a bike ride’ and we were going to grab dinner,” El Moussa added to Anstead’s proposal story. “We were watching the sunset, and then all of a sudden he just got on his knee and proposed. So yes, I was surprised.”

It’s been a long road for El Moussa and Anstead, but it seems like the couple is truly ready to settle down following their respective previous marriages. The adorable pair hasn’t been shy about letting fans in our their new life together, chronicling their adventures, special moments and traditions on social media. El Moussa reflected on her 2018 milestones — which include travel, her wedding and filming Flip or Flop‘s eighth season — via Instagram on Jan 1. A portion of her caption noted, “WHAT A YEAR!!! This time last year there were so many unknowns and so much was up in the air for me personally and professionally. @ant_anstead and I started this jar on 12/31/17 and placed a note in it every time we did something really special. Reading them tonight it truly has been the most unbelievable year!!”

After the couple comes back from their honeymoon, El Moussa will reportedly take Anstead’s last name (it’s unclear if she’ll change it for professional purposes too) and from there, the rest will no doubt be (hopefully blissful) history.
