It’s a brand-new year, and Justin Timberlake fans have something extra special to celebrate. On Thursday, the singer took to Instagram to announce that he is back on tour after an injury forced him to postpone multiple shows in early December, which is really good news. Timberlake suffered bruised vocal cords and had to rest his voice until doctors cleared him to perform again. Now that he’s gearing up to get back on stage, his excitement is palpable.
In a brief Instagram video, Timberlake greeted fans from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.: “First of all, Happy New Year. Hope everybody had a good holiday,” he said. “Second of all, D.C. we here. We’re back. Can’t wait. Excited.” Then he turned away from the camera to talk to a group gathered by the stage — possibly backup dancers and musicians — and asked, “Y’all ready?” He finished the clip by walking toward the camera and whispering, dramatically, “Let’s go.”
Timberlake captioned the clip, “And… we’re back. See you tomorrow DC!”
According to Timberlake’s website, Friday’s performance in D.C. kicks off the next leg of the Man of the Woods Tour, including 24 rescheduled dates that stretch through April. Timberlake will perform all across the U.S. this spring.

Timberlake explained the postponed dates to his fans via Instagram on Dec. 5, after two gigs in October and November were canceled. He wrote, “Hey guys, I’m sure you have heard that I’ve had to postpone several tour dates due to bruised vocal cords. My vocal cords are healing, but they are not all the way back to normal yet, so my doctors want me to continue to rest my voice. They have asked me to hold off on singing until next month.”
The decision was obviously tough on Timberlake, who continued, “I’m really sorry, I want to be back on stage and I am doing all I can to get there quickly. Thank you for understanding — I see all of your posts and I appreciate the support. I look forward to coming back stronger than I was before. More to come on the rescheduled dates.”

However, it hasn’t been all bad. Timberlake shared a handful of photos during the holidays, including a Christmas photo of himself and wife Jessica Biel posing with Mickey Mouse. Although it’s unfortunate that Timberlake had to postpone so many tour dates, it’s good that he took the necessary time to heal.
