Gwyneth Paltrow Hilariously Flips the Script on Old Brad Pitt Relationship Meme

Gwyneth Paltrow’s got jokes, y’all. When an old meme referencing her relationship with former fiancé Brad Pitt was brought to her attention, Paltrow had a hilarious (and, let’s be real, perfect) response.

You’ve seen the meme, right? Every so often, a collage of photos from a 2006 Daily Express piece resurfaces, showing Pitt with three iconic exes: Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Paltrow. The headline reads, “Brad Pitt: The man who likes to look like his girlfriend.”

On Friday, blogger Leandra Medine shared the meme on Instagram, saying, “A great thing I saw in @georgia_tal’s IG stories yesterday.”

Paltrow saw the post and slid into the comment section, deadpanning, “Or we like to look like him, let’s face it.”

And hey, she makes a solid point.

Refreshingly, Pitt and Paltrow seem to be an example of exes who’ve managed to stay on friendly terms over the years. The pair, who met while filming 1995’s serial killer thriller Seven, famously got engaged in 1996 before ultimately deciding to go their separate ways in 1997.

In January 2015, while chatting with Howard Stern on SiriusXM’s The Howard Stern Show, Paltrow explained that she was simply too young to know to make a lifelong commitment at that point.

I was such a kid, I was 22 when we met. It’s taken me until 40 to get my head out of my ass,” she said. “You can’t make that decision when you’re 22 years old… I wasn’t ready, and he was too good for me. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

Paltrow reiterated those feelings in a December 2018 interview for WSJ Magazine’s December/January issue.

“I feel like we are probably better equipped to choose our life partner when we are halfway through life. But generally we have to pick our spouses a lot earlier because of the whole procreation piece…. For me it has been more of a process, and so I feel really lucky to have met this person who is an incredible, true partner,” Paltrow said of finding now-husband Brad Falchuk later in life.

Paltrow also revealed earlier in 2018 that Pitt defended her when disgraced movie exec Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed her in a hotel room in 1995.

“It was so fantastic. He levered his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet,” Paltrow told Howard Stern in May. “He said, ‘If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you,’ or something like that.”

Today, Paltrow and Falchuk have a blended household, including Paltrow’s children Apple, 14, and Moses, 12, with ex-husband Chris Martin, and Falchuck’s children from a prior marriage. Pitt is currently undergoing divorce proceedings with Angeline Jolie, with whom he shares custody of kids Maddox, 17, Pax, 15, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 10.
