Girl! Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Lauren Burnham have revealed the sex of their first child, and the proud parents will soon be welcoming a daughter into their family.
Luyendyk and Burnham, who initially announced the pregnancy in November 2017, took to Instagram on Friday to share the good news with fans and followers. Not surprisingly, the social-media-savvy pair went all out for the announcement, working with a professional photographer for a special Us Weekly gender reveal photo shoot.
“IT’S A GIRL!!!” Luyendyk wrote, crediting @griffithimaging for the pink-themed pics.

In an interview with Us Weekly accompanying the shoot, Burnham admitted she was kind of relieved to find out their first child is going to be a little girl. “I was really nervous to be a boy mom because I just don’t know that I can relate as well, being a woman relating to a little boy,” she said. “I have a little brother, and he’s so sweet and I love him to death, but sometimes I don’t really understand why he acts the way he does. I’m feeling a lot more confident in being able to be a girl mom first!”
And even though Luyendyk said he worries some about the prospect of dealing with his daughter’s dating days, he’s still “very excited” about the news. “I won’t have to worry about putting that little boy into a race car anytime soon,” he shared, joking of his daughter one day dating, “She’s not leaving the house until she’s 30.”
There’s at least one other way Luyendyk says his daughter won’t be following in his footsteps: with her name.
“No Arie or Ariel or Aria. No plays off of Arie,” Luyendyk told Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti on the fellow Bachelor Nation alums’ Almost Famous podcast. “We wouldn’t do that to the little one.”

The gender reveal isn’t the only big thing the couple is celebrating this month — they’re set to get hitched in Hawaii on Jan. 12, with Bachelor host Chris Harrison officiating.
Last month, Harrison revealed his thoughts on Luyendyk and Burnham’s relationship, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I was not surprised they’re getting married. The baby announcement caught me off guard, but I’m unbelievably excited for them. They built this life in Arizona, they have the new house, they put the pool in, they’re just a cute couple. I love them to death and I’m glad that they have kind of gotten away and gotten back to their life. So I’m very, very happy for them.”
