Yup, Gwyneth Paltrow & Brad Falchuk’s ‘Modern Honeymoon’ Included Chris Martin

And the surprises keep on coming when it comes to Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Falchuk and the way they’re choosing to spend their first months as husband and wife. During a Wednesday morning interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan, Paltrow revealed that Chris Martin went on her honeymoon with Falchuk, leaving cohosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest with tons of follow-up questions. Turns out Paltrow and Falchuk are setting a new standard in modern honeymooning, and from the way she explains it, it actually sounds pretty darn cool.

Paltrow opened up about her “big family honeymoon” to Ripa and Seacrest, detailing just how special the trip was and exactly how many people came along. Laughingly noting that it was a “very modern honeymoon,” Paltrow revealed that in addition to Falchuk and Martin, Paltrow and Falchuk’s children (from their respective previous relationships) came along as well as the couple’s “best family friends,” who went unnamed.

Naturally, Ripa and Seacrest were very interested, proceeding to probe Paltrow about how this honeymoon — which took place in the Maldives — played out.

“Wait, your ex-husband went on your honeymoon?” Ripa asked.

“Yeah, pretty much,” Paltrow said with a laugh before Ripa turned to Seacrest and joked, “There would be so much crime scene tape at our [honeymoon]…” implying that if one of her or husband Mark Consuelos’ exes had joined them on their honeymoon, it probably wouldn’t have gone over very well.

“Everyone has happiness, it sounds like,” Seacrest commented after Paltrow seemed to note that conversation was good and there was no awkwardness with Martin there and that the kids were having fun.

Ripa then chimed in, “You guys are living your best life! You really need to — and maybe you’ve done this and I don’t know about it, so forgive me if I don’t — write a book on [divorce] because so many couples get divorced and there is so much acrimony,” an idea which had Paltrow nodding along with in agreement.

Who knows if a book is happening, but Ripa is definitely onto something here. Paltrow and Falchuk have made a big effort of including Martin in their bigger family gatherings of late, with Martin also joining them at Thanksgiving in addition to Christmas last year. It seems Paltrow and Falchuk know what works best for them and their family unit, and for that, we can only applaud them.
