Reese Witherspoon Posed With Her Mother & Daughter for Vogue, & It’s Everything

Just when we thought she couldn’t be more delightful, Reese Witherspoon goes and makes our lives even better. On Thursday, the world was treated to Witherspoon’s Vogue cover shoot with her daughter, Ava Phillippe, and her mom, Betty Reese. While the three generations of women came together for one photo for Witherspoon’s February cover, it’s a stunning picture that goes perfectly with Witherspoon’s interview, which touches on her mission to  bring women’s stories to the forefront.

Before we even touch on the high points of the interview, we need to take a moment to really soak up the glory of the photo with Witherspoon, Phillippe and Reese. Witherspoon and Philippe flank their family matriarch, Reese, and all three women absolutely slay us with the most loving looks we may ever see. It’s such a beautiful portrait that is part of a stunning Vogue cover shoot, all focused on Witherspoon.

It also acts as the perfect gateway into Witherspoon’s in-depth interview with the magazine, which touches on the actor’s bananas work ethic and all of the professional irons she has in the proverbial fire at the moment. As the interview makes clear, one of Witherspoon’s overarching drives or goals in the work she does, regardless of the medium, is to make sure women’s stories are being told, women are being seen and supported and that women have places to come together.

“The idea is to put women at the center of the story,” Witherspoon told Vogue, alluding to the work she does in front of the camera as an actor and behind the camera as a producer, entrepreneur, author and beyond. “I was sick of making movies where I was the only female lead on the set. I was sick of seeing scripts where there was one female role, badly written, and yet every actress in town wanted the part because there was nothing else.”

She continued, “I finally asked myself, ‘Why does it have to be the same 20 people making all the movies?’ Maybe there is room for a more inclusive idea about who can be on-screen and who can get it funded. Maybe there are different ways to get content made so that the world we see on-screen looks more like the world we walk through in real life.”

The interview, which touches on all the amazing things Witherspoon does as an actor on hits like Big Little Lies and highly anticipated projects like The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell or with her production company, Hello Sunshine, also includes a vote of confidence from her BLL costar Meryl Streep, who marvels at Witherspoon’s hustle.

“She does everything!” Streep exclaims. “On top of the acting and producing and the books and Draper James, she also carves the pumpkins! She raises three kids. She maintains friendships. I know what it’s like to be in this business and also raise kids. You remember that book I Don’t Know How She Does It? That’s Reese!”

Honestly, we’re with Streep on this one. We don’t know how Witherspoon does it, but from where we sit, she does it flawlessly and admirably, kinda like that perfect photo of her and the most important ladies in her life (we bet), her daughter and her mom.
