We first learned that Kelly Clarkson would host her own daytime talk show last fall (cue the excited squeals!) and began chomping at the bit for intel about it immediately. Details right now remain slim, but we do know that the pop singer and The Voice judge is slated to start hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show sometime this year, with episodes premiering in the fall. What else can fans expect when it comes to Clarkson’s daytime debut? Here are the Kelly Clarkson talk show details you should know.
When will it air?
As mentioned, The Kelly Clarkson Show will hit the air sometime this fall, though no exact premiere date has been announced yet. According to a recent interview with Steve Harvey, Clarkson might be taking over his current time slot when his contract with NBC expires this year. The news came as a surprise to him after so many years with the network, according to Variety.
“I thought I was [going to renew the contract], until they made an announcement a couple weeks ago that they wanted to give Kelly Clarkson the [NBC] O&O networks – that’s my slot,” Harvey told Variety. Not to worry — a source told the outlet that Harvey’s daytime talk show, Steve, will likely be picked up by another network.

What can we expect?
In September, Clarkson told Jimmy Fallon that there will be a live segment during each episode of her show, and to prepare for that, she’s doing a live video on social media every night during her current tour with Kelsea Ballerini and The Voice winner Brynn Cartelli. At the time, news of her talk show hadn’t yet been confirmed, but Clarkson wasn’t worried about giving away the deets.
“I didn’t think I’d ever do [a talk show], but then, yeah, we shot the pilot,” she told Fallon. “And it’s kind of… well, I love talking. It’s kind of like my favorite pastime, so…” Clarkson trailed off, then admitted, “It’s hard for me to shut up, though. You have to listen to people who come on your show, and I just keep talking. That’s the only thing I’ve gotta work on: listening.”
In a statement released back in September, NBC called the show “a fun, energetic show that breaks with tradition. In each episode, audiences will experience an hour full of remarkable stories, celebrity guests, spontaneous surprises, humor, heart and, of course, good music! It’s like a weekday brunch party with a fascinating guest list of people who would otherwise never meet.”
Who else is involved?
In addition to hosting the talk show, Clarkson will also co-executive produce with her husband, Brandon Blackstock, making it a family affair, according to Variety. Whether that means Clarkson’s mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, will make any kind of appearance remains to be seen, but we think the chances are pretty high.
Though we don’t know exactly what form Clarkson’s talk show will take at this point, everything we’ve learned so far has us even more excited to see how she dominates this new gig. She’s clearly perfect for the job.
