Céline Dion Honors Late Husband René Angélil’s Memory With a Touching Tribute

In a touching if not somber reminder of just how quickly time flies, on Monday Céline Dion posted a tribute to René Angélil on Instagram to mark the third anniversary of his death in January 2016. For fans of Dion’s, it is a reminder of just how much time has gone by since Angélil’s death at age 73. For Dion, the occasion allowed her to speak from the heart in memory of the love of her life.

Posting a photo of just Angélil, Dion wrote a short, sentimental caption in both French and English (as she is wont to do on Instagram) to mark her late husband’s death: “My dearest René….always with me…..always will be. In loving memory… xx …”

Dion didn’t post anything else to honor Angélil. Seeing that she was able to share one tribute to honor him just three years after he died of a heart attack and a prolonged battle with throat cancer is enough to prove that time may march on but Angélil is never far from Dion’s thoughts.

While Dion has shown little to no interest in dating in the wake of Angélil’s death, as a source indicated to Entertainment Tonight in April 2018, she has remained a devoted mother to their three sons: René-Charles, 17, and 8-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. Dion posted a celebratory family photo of herself and her sons over the Christmas holidays, sending warm wishes to her fans. And in addition to spending time with her sons, Dion enjoyed a successful 2018 with highs including continuing to perform and confirming the end of her massively successful Las Vegas residency, “Celine,” in 2019, contributing an original song to the film Deadpool 2 and cheering on fellow pop superstar Lady Gaga at the premiere of her own Las Vegas residency in December.

Our thoughts are with Dion during this time, but we certainly hope this day doesn’t keep her from making happy memories in 2019.
