If anyone embodies modern family dynamics, it’s newlyweds Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk, who seemingly haven’t turned their backs on any part of their lives before they met. In fact, Paltrow and Chris Martin remain close friends and co-parents to their two children, Apple and Moses. In an interview with the Evening Standard published on Wednesday, Paltrow revealed that in addition to going on family vacations and spending holidays together, she and Martin see each other daily.
“I think we’ve managed to really stay a family,” Paltrow told the Evening Standard. “Chris is a very close friend. I see him every day, I talk to him every day. And it was very difficult, but I think you see in the children that they got through it, so I am proud of us, I really am. We kept to our commitment that we would put the children first.”
In the same interview, she noted that when she and Martin famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014, they were mocked for using that term rather than “divorce.” However, the idea came from a therapist, and Paltrow said it helped because “the word ‘divorce’ is brutal.” She said she and Martin wanted to explore “uncoupling that romantic part while remaining a family.”

Thus far, it seems to have worked. “Family structure can be reinvented and divorce doesn’t have to be devastating,” Paltrow remarked, going on to reflect on how she felt she and Martin were meant to be together. “It doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship with somebody. I think Chris and I were meant to be together and have our kids. But our relationship is much better like this: friends and co-parents and family.”
Earlier this month, she said during an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan that Martin was even invited on her honeymoon with Falchuk. Additionally, their two kids and Falchuk’s children from his previous marriage came along, as well as some “close family friends.” Whatever anyone says about this family, they’ve clearly figured out what works for them.
