As of Sunday, this actor is one step closer to achieving an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), which is a really big deal. Hugh Jackman took home a Grammy for the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman, meaning he has just one letter to go: the big O. If he takes home an Academy Award at any point in his career, he’ll join just 15 other performers who have achieved this rarefied and highly coveted status.
Jackman has been nominated for an Academy Award only once: in 2013 for his performance in Les Misérables as Jean Valjean. That same year, he took home his first and only Golden Globe Award win, though he’s been nominated two other times. He took home an Emmy in 2005 for hosting the 58th annual Tony Awards, which is a nice crossover moment in his quest for an EGOT. The year before, he nabbed a Tony for his portrayal of singer-songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy from Oz.
Although he wasn’t at the Grammys on Sunday, Jackman celebrated from home and posted a clip of the cast and crew’s win on Twitter. “And the @RecordingAcad goes to … @GreatestShowman @AtlanticRecords @pasekandpaul and the entire cast and crew! #Grammy” he wrote.

Although he is not nominated for any Oscars in 2019, that doesn’t mean he won’t be nominated — and win — at some point in the future. Jackman has at least four projects currently in the works, including the animated film Missing Link in which he voices the character Sir Lionel Frost. Missing Link is due to hit theaters in April, which could potentially make it eligible for an Academy Award nomination in 2020.
Jackman hasn’t commented on how close he is to an EGOT, but he did share a “secret” rehearsal video for The Greatest Showman cast opening the Brit Awards on Feb. 20.
