Jennifer Lopez Announces It’s My Party U.S. Tour For Her 50th Birthday

If you were hoping you could celebrate J. Lo’s milestone birthday on July 24, now you can. During a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jennifer Lopez announced a 50th birthday U.S. tour. That’s right, the singer and actress is going on tour in honor of her turning another year older. How amazing is that?

It’s hard to believe, and even Lopez agreed while chatting with Ellen DeGeneres, that the Second Act star will soon be 50. Of course, age is simply a number, which is exactly why the multitalented superstar is choosing to celebrate her huge birthday with a tour appropriately called It’s My Party.

It’s hard to believe Lopez will be turning 50. Like she told DeGeneres, “It’s nuts. Anybody else still feel like you’re 16? I feel like I’m 26.”

After DeGeneres asked the Good Trouble executive producer if she’s planning on enjoying her birthday in a particular way, Lopez replied, “Actually, this summer I am celebrating. My birthday’s in July. So this summer I decided I wanted to do something big for my birthday, since it is a big birthday — as Ellen keeps mentioning. I’m going on a U.S. tour. It’s called It’s My Party.”

Not a lot of details were given about her tour, but it already sounds like a fabulous way to honor J. Lo. She said tickets will go on sale “very soon,” so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. It’s also important to note that Lopez’s 50th birthday tour will not be as big of an affair as normal. Right now, the 49-year-old is only planning on doing a handful of shows.

“We’re only doing, I think, 25, 28 shows, something like that,” she told DeGeneres. “It’s just a small amount of shows, but we’ll be out all through June and July, I think.” Well, hey, that’s better than nothing, right?

And because Lopez and the daytime talk show host are so generous, every member in the studio audience received free tickets to the It’s My Party tour. Jealous? Yeah, we are too.

If you’ve never seen Lopez perform live, then we definitely recommend you look into tickets for her latest tour. She’s beyond fantastic, as you can see in the above video when she performed at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards as the Video Vanguard Award recipient.

She also most recently performed a Motown tribute at the 61st Grammy Awards, which received criticism. Many people felt that choosing a black artist over Lopez may have been more appropriate, but she doesn’t feel that way. Backstage at the Grammys, Lopez defended her performance by telling Entertainment Tonight, “It was for my mom. I could cry. It’s such a good moment. It’s just a dream come true.”

She also said, “The thing about music is that it inspires all. Any type of music can inspire any type of artist. You can’t tell people what to love. You can’t tell people what they can and can’t do, what they should sing or not sing. You gotta do what’s in your heart.”

Despite the backlash, Lopez isn’t letting it affect her as she continues to pursue her musical passion with a celebratory tour in honor of herself and her hard work over the years.
