More news about the Breaking Bad sequel has finally arrived! Per The Hollywood Reporter, sources have confirmed it will be a feature-length movie centered on Emmy-winning actor Aaron Paul — aka meth cook Jesse Pinkman. Bonus? The movie will come to Netflix before it airs on its original network, AMC.
Series creator Vince Gilligan will be penning this project too. And according to THR’s sources, he will also direct the film. Franchise collaborators Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein, who currently work together on the OG Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul, which they co-executive produce alongside Gilligan.

Well, Pinkman, obviously. But to be more specific, the super-top-secret film will reportedly follow Pinkman’s escape from the Neo-Nazi captivity in which he found himself during the 2013 series finale. Contrary to some reports stating it could be a prequel, the most recent intel seems to confirm all the action will take place after the time we last saw the notorious makers of Albuquerque’s infamous Blue Sky.
In November 2018, news of a movie filming in New Mexico was detailed in the (real-life) Albuquerque Journal. The film, referred to by the possible code-name Greenbrier, was described as being about “the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.” Clearly, this fits the narrative of Jesse escaping the clutches of the Neo-Nazis.
Of course, fans will certainly recall that the notorious Walter White (Bryan Cranston) died in the very same finale that Jesse found himself in custody. Accordingly, it’s unclear at this point whether Walt will appear in flashbacks or any other capacity.
Interesting … wish Walter would rise from the dead tho. #BreakingBadhttps://t.co/XKP679yHOl

Later in November, Cranston teased on The Dan Patrick Show, “I have not gotten the script. I have not read the script. And so, there’s the question of whether or not we’ll even see Walter White in this movie. Ohhhhh! Think about that one.”
Typical Walt, eh? Always messing with your mind.
