Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower Is Reportedly Happening in New York, & Very Soon

It sounds like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first child might be celebrated in the Big Apple — and possibly as soon as Tuesday, Feb. 19. According to People, Meghan Markle’s friends are throwing her a secret baby shower in New York City.

Seeing as Meghan has many close friends who adore her and are willing to speak up on her behalf, it’s no surprise they would want to celebrate her pregnancy and impending arrival of her child with Prince Harry, who is due in late April.

According to People’s source, the baby shower that is apparently being kept under major wraps will happen before she and Harry head to Morocco for a three-day trip shining a light on girls’ education and youth empowerment.

As you can see below in the video tweeted by Early Today on Feb. 19, paparazzi snapped photos of Meghan keeping a low-profile in New York City, which were obtained by the Daily Mail. Per the Daily Mail, “A spokesperson for Kensington Palace would not divulge details of the Duchess’s flights, but confirmed that, as it is a private trip, it has been privately funded.”

As recently reported by Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan flew stateside on Feb. 15 for “five nights of rest, shopping, and good food with some of her closest and most loyal pals — her first time in NYC since getting married.”

A source reportedly “close to the duchess” said not only was the New York visit planned months ago, but also noted, “The trip is a lovely chance to catch up with friends and spend time in a city she loves. This will be the last time a lot of them will see Meg until after the baby is born so it’s nice to share precious moments.”

Sources also informed Harper’s Bazaar that the baby shower is being held at a “private location for 15 guests on Tuesday, Feb. 19.” Apparently, Meghan’s also been spending time with her best friend, Jessica Mulroney, who was even rumored to have helped Meghan plan her May 2018 royal wedding. Meghan and Mulroney reportedly visited Ladurée for macarons and tea on Feb. 16, per Harper’s Bazaar.

“It’s been a relaxing visit,” a source told Harper’s Bazaar. “Nothing beats face time with your friends. Meg will be flying home refreshed and relaxed — and with a lot of new baby clothes.”

All that said, royal family members don’t typically have baby showers. According to Harper’s Bazaar Australia, royal expert Victoria Arbiter told The Sun that since royals are “very wealthy, a lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate. There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves”. That said, the publication also reports that Meghan “is allowed to accept gifts from her loved ones if they so desire.”

Well, it appears Meghan’s nearest and dearest friends felt the desire to gift her with baby presents — and a shower. Meghan has been known to break the so-called royal rules from time to time, so for her to potentially attend a party thrown in her and her child’s honor isn’t surprising, whatsoever.
