Lady Gaga Calls Bradley Cooper a ‘True Friend’ in a Post About Their Oscars Performance

These two have a truly meaningful friendship. Lady Gaga gushed about Bradley Cooper in an Instagram shared on Monday that celebrated both their special connection and 2019 Oscars performance.

At Sunday’s 91st Academy Awards, the Star Is Born costars performed “Shallow” from their film. Their duet was one most everyone was looking forward to. As soon as they stepped onto the Oscars stage, Gaga and Cooper captivated viewers both in the audience and at home. There’s no denying they’ve formed a close bond that resonated not only on-screen, but also in real life.

The relationship she’s created with Cooper means the world to Gaga, which she made clear on Monday. Next to a picture of the real-life friends sitting at the piano onstage during their performance, the Oscar winner (Gaga took home her first gold statue on Sunday for best original song) simply wrote, “Nothing could be more special than sharing this moment at the Oscars with a true friend and artistic genius.”

There’s no denying Gaga and Cooper have amazing chemistry whenever they’re channeling their characters from A Star Is Born in addition to when they sing such a powerful song from the film.

That said, it’s important to remember that their relationship is purely platonic. Many fans have been wishing the two would become a couple, which is extremely unfair since Cooper is in a committed relationship with Irina Shayk. They’ve been together since 2015, and they even have a daughter, Lea. Cooper and Shayk appear very happy, so hoping for a Gaga-Cooper romance is completely unnecessary, not to mention wrong.

As Gaga has made clear in her latest Instagram, they are only friends who respect each other in a variety of ways, especially artistically.

Cooper and Gaga had an immediate connection upon meeting each other for the first time. “She came down the stairs and we went out to her patio and I saw her eyes, and honestly, it clicked and I went, Wow,'” Cooper told Vogue in 2018 for an issue in which Gaga was the cover star. She echoed her friend by telling the magazine, “The second that I saw him I was like, ‘Have I known you my whole life? It was an instant connection, instant understanding of one another.”

Their unexpected yet instantaneous bond is what has made fans fall in love with them — and understandably so. Like Gaga recently said on Instagram, her relationship with Cooper should be celebrated because they support and respect each other like true friends should.
